Founded in 1982, the Bill T. Jones/Arnie Zane Dance Company nurtures the art of dance, educates the public, and promotes collaboration among members of the allied arts of music, theater, new media, visual arts, etc. and the communities in which they work. The company has shaped the evolution of contemporary dance through the creation and performance of over 140 works and is recognized as one of the most innovative and powerful forces in the modern dance world. The company has performed its ever-enlarging repertoire worldwide in over 200 cities in 30 countries.
JOB DESCRIPTION
The Public Relations and Marketing Associate oversees the company's institutional and programmatic marketing and communications. The position reports to the Producing Director and works closely with senior administrative staff and the artistic team.
Specific responsibilities include:
• Ensure high-visibility media coverage for the company and its work.
• Serve as liaison with tour presenters for PR and marketing efforts.
• Coordinate interviews for artists and executive staff.
• Develop, maintain and distribute inventory of media tools.
• Coordinate photo and video shoots of new work.
• Write and distribute press releases.
• Write monthly e-newsletter, weekly press summary, and other regular communications.
• Develop marketing language and design standards for all company productions and projects.
• Coordinate tour program copy.
• Monitor media for company and industry news coverage.
• Maintain press clippings archive.
• Monitor and update social media presence. Develop social media strategy and content.
• Write ad copy and strategize design.
• Develop and implement long-range press and marketing strategy.
• Coordinate with external publicists as required.
• Fulfill media requests for archival materials.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with writers and editors in the field.
Compensation, including benefits, is competitive and commensurate with qualifications and experience.
REQUIREMENTS
• A Bachelor's degree from an accredited university or college.
• A minimum of five years professional communications experience.
• Experience working effectively within a fast-paced, creatively driven organization.
• Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
• Knowledge of dance and the related arts, and a passion for the company's mission, programs, and future plans.
• Established connections with local and national arts & culture journalists and editors.
• Graphic design experience, and familiarity with Constant Contact and Movable Type are helpful.

Internships
Internships are offered year-round. The schedule and weekly hours are flexible. Applicants should be able to house themselves in the NY metro area. Internships are unpaid and targeted towards those seeking academic credit or work experience in a fast-paced arts organization. Benefits such as performance tickets and the opportunity to attend Company class (for those with a dance background) are available.

Finance Intern
Job Description: Work closely with the Director of Finance (Executive Director, Development Team and Production) in all areas of financial management including, accounts receivables, accounts payables, reconciliation reports, financial reporting, maintenance of financial database as well as assisting in organizing financial records and audit preparation. Job duties include but are not limited to the assistance and coordination for the following projects:
Daily Banking
• Deposit runs
• Bank reconciliation reports
• Records of credit card activity
• Work with departments on petty cash and credit card reconciliations
Accounts Receivable
• Input pledges on regular basis
• Monitor and maintain receivable accounts
• Prepare invoices as needed
Account Payable
• Assist with organizing weekly check run
• Update vendor information in database
• Provide reports as needed
Administration
• Organize files
• Maintain contact with vendors and artists
• Assist in maintaining smooth office administration
• Distribute payroll stubs

Lighting Intern
The Bill T. Jones/Arnie Zane Dance Company seeks a lighting intern for a dynamic season of new work creation, touring, education, and humanities events. The production intern will gain experience in lighting supervision for dance and will assist in the touring adaptation of a new piece premiering this fall. The intern will work directly with the production team to create documents in Vectorworks, Lightwright and Excel for a 15-theater fall tour. The intern will have the opportunity to observe and assist with the load-in, lighting focus and touring of several pieces.

Arts Administration Intern
The Bill T. Jones/Arnie Zane Dance Company seeks an Arts Administration Intern for a dynamic season of new work creation, touring, education, and humanities events. The Arts Administration Intern will gain experience in operations, marketing, public relations, and archiving within a major dance/theatre company. The intern will assist the administrative staff in the daily operations of the Company and liaise with the Company's finance, development, and production departments.

Archival Intern
The Bill T. Jones/Arnie Zane Dance Company seeks an Archival Intern for a dynamic season of new work creation, touring, education, and humanities events. The intern will assist with the archiving of press, programs, photographs and documentation for in house storage and electronic files. Candidate should have a background in the arts, great attention to detail, and be self-motivated.

Development Intern
Job Description: Work closely with the development team (Executive Director, Development Associate-Institutional Giving, Development Associate-Individual Giving) in all areas of development, donor relations, event planning/implementation, special projects, marketing, and file organization. Job duties include but are not limited to the assistance and coordination for the following projects:
Annual Campaigns/Planning/Solicitation Prep- Research institutional and individual donors and prospects
- Assist in organizing development materials and information
- Assist with grant report and proposal preparation
- Assist in the creation of campaign materials
- Help prepare and launch in-house mailings
- Record Company performance/attendance/activities statistics
- Assist in compiling and tracking prospect research and follow up steps
- Assist with special events ranging from small cultivation events to large benefits
- Assist with creating fundraising strategies around social networking sites
- Attend special events and networking functions when appropriate
