I believe we look to the arts more than ever during uncertain times to nurture, inspire, and help us make sense of our world.  Two things have enabled me to stay positive in the current economic reality.  The first is Bill T. Jones and his extraordinary vision, which continues to inspire me with its ambition and uncompromising integrity.  The second is you -- you and others like you in our community who continue to encourage us to keep going, despite the many hardships facing nonprofits in this difficult funding climate.  While the Company's support from the corporate community has decreased swiftly and significantly this year, I have been consistently touched by individuals like you who have stepped in quickly to make the little extra gift that has helped us weather this economic storm.

Last fall we raised $50,000 in support of Bill T. Jones and his Company during one of the most challenging fundraising periods in our lifetimes.  If you made a donation thank you for helping us get this far!  Please help us raise the remaining $25,000 of our goal before June 30th by making a gift today.  A gift of any size will help us meet our goal.  If you are interested in a monthly installment plan, we can assist you with creating a plan that meets your comfort level.  Ten dollar a month, or even fifty dollars a month, is a lot less than a week's worth of daily visits to your local Starbucks.  A gift to the Company is also tax-deductible and you will receive the added value of knowing that you are investing in one of the greatest living artists of our time.

The Company's newest work, Fondly Do We Hope...Fervently Do We Pray, is the most ambitious project in its history.  Commissioned by the prestigious Ravinia Festival in Highland Park, Illinois to mark the bicentennial of Abraham Lincoln's birth, the work will premiere September 17 & 19-21, 2009.  We need to raise another $25,000 to ensure the completion of this work.  By clicking the Donate button below you can view just a few things that your gift can support.

In recognition of our 25th Anniversary I hope that you will consider a gift to the Company.  If you've already made one, please consider an additional gift.  We are truly grateful for your support at any level.

Sincerely,

◊ Roots, Renaissance, Revolution!
June 19, 2009

I told Anne that while I am flattered to be seen as a "revolutionary" it would be more accurate and less pompous if I said simply that I am a survivor working with every tool I have to make work, maintain an organization (will we always be a dance company?) and stay in touch with that impulse that lead me to this life in the first place.
